So this summer was very different than last summer. We did some traveling and Coach did a lot of work on the exterior and interior of the house.
The house now has a new color on it. I think she's very happy with the what we picked out. The body is a grey with trim colors in white and darker shades of the gray. And the front door and both gates are a beautiful shade of plum. I don't think the neighbors were real crazy with the choice. But some of them really like it now.
We also picked out new rock for the front yard. At first coach was not thrilled with what I liked, but agreed and found out it cost us less than what he had picked. Score! Now we need to work on getting some plants in, new door hardware, light fixture. A few pots here and there and the front of the house should be done. Coach did a wonderful job, and he said it felt good to get his hands dirty.
The backyard was worked on also. Finished the turf and rock spread out. We found some beautiful patio furniture. One has already refinished and one set we're going to refinish on our own. We also found some cute side tables and the coolest tea cart while we were in Palm Desert. Its been really hot and humid here lately so I haven't  gotten out to refinish anything yet. So I'm hoping it'll cool off here soon so I can get started. I can't wait till it's closer to being done and we can sit outside for coffee or drinks. We have spent a lot of time in the pool this year. That's been really nice. Last summer I had my arm in a sling. So there was no pool time. I was getting a texts on days that I got out early from work. That read POOL TIME!. That made my day.
We did a little work on the inside of the house also. We had that nasty popcorn ceiling, and the end of last week we had someone come in and remove it. WOW! is all I can say. What a difference that made. So now that has to be painted and the best part is that than we'll be able to get the wallpaper on the one wall in the main living room.
I also now need to pick out paint color for the second guest room. I saw in a magazine a few years back, a picture of a room I fell in love with. I'm going to go with an old school sports look. Twin beds for the grandsons. I've picked up trophies and a tennis racket. Of course there'll be football items. It's going to be a fun room.
So we're empty nesters now, one hundred present. Our three older kids now all have new homes. It's a great feeling that they have all done well for themselves. Of course they've had their ups and downs. As all of us have gone through when getting started. But everyone of their homes is so cute. They all have been working hard to get them where they want them to be. Our oldest daughter just bought her cute little house a few months ago. So she and her dog Boo have been getting use to their new home.
Coach started back to work this past Wednesday. I know he's glad to be back, but I think he kinda liked being home doing projects and pool time. But he'll get back into the swing of things before he knows it. The kids will be back in the class room this coming Wednesday. The new football shirts have started making their way into our house. It's amazing how they change every year. First game is at the end of August. So things are going to start getting very busy again.
So our summer was not all work (except for me I had to go in) there was some fun. We went to San Diego and stayed at a great place near downtown. Of course we spent a lot of time on the beach. Our first day we were in Solona Beach. Found a cute hat at Bixby & Ball. Some old photos and the Mermaid Shop. We had a wonderful lunch at Lockwood Table. They have a lavender iced coffee. If your ever in Solona Beach, you have to stop by for one. Also stopped in at  SoLo. Such a wonderful shop. They have some beautiful items. We also ate at Crocee's and a new place  Cucina Urbana. We ate there twice. Everything melts in your month it's sooooo good. We also went to our two favorite places of all. Kono's on Pacific Beach and Mona Lisa in Little Italy. The weather was great and we had a wonderful time. It's always hard to come back home and leave Pacific Beach behind.
But two weeks ago we made our way to Palm Springs for about three days. Boy was it hot and humid. But we had a great time. We stayed at Caliente Tropics. Ate at Kings Highway, their food was amazing! We also stopped at Georgie's Alibi Azul. Sat on these cute covered gliders there. So much fun. Also went to Trio, Lulu , Fisherman's Market & Grill, Sherman's and a spot in Palm desert called Fix. This was a food trip. Every place we went was very, very good. Now it's just a waiting game till we hit Pacific Beach in March with Coaches family. I can't wait. my in-laws are the greatest. Just seven months to go.
So this is it for today. I'm going to try to figure out how to get my pictures on here for you to see what Coach and I have been up to. Have a great day!
Oh for anyone who'd like to see some of my pics, I am on Instagram, rossiaz and I have boards on Pinterest.

Starting a New Year

So it's January 3rd, 2013. I've made no promises to myself, other than getting healthy, a bit more fit and working on my blog and my crafting. Along with getting the house in order. Guest room done, yards in shape, exterior painted. You know the little things that we all need or want to do. But never seem to have time to do.
The holidays were very nice. We had a wonderful time with the kids and grandsons: who are to cute for words. They did very well till the end of the day. No naps and they get a little cranky. They've grown so much. Before we know it they'll be in school.
My shoulder is doing great. Rehab is over with and I don't see my surgeon for my next check up `til June. The weather here in Arizona has been very cold. Yes, I know it's not three below and snowing, but for us it may as well be. That makes the shoulders hurt. So what sweaters I do have, I've been wearing alot to keep warm.
Coach is doing good. He had a rough season. We were both glad to have it come to an end. I keep telling him that the season may not be what he wanted but he has a few former players who are doing very well since moving on to collage. One is at Arizona State, one at Oregon State and another at Easten Michigan.  Coach has two players at Wabash College and it looks like this coming fall Wabash may be getting another player or two. They have all come back to visit during the summer when possible. Some have called to keep in touch.
This fall has been full of changes. Coach's parents have sold both their homes here in Arizona and in Minnesota. They left this mornig for Minnesota to move into their new appartment. It's going to be strange not having lunch with my mother-in-law once a week. I told her I would call on my days off, while at Barnes and Noble to have coffee with her and chat. I know they'll be back to visit, but it's going to take time to get use to.
And on a sad note for coach and myself. We lost our boxer Jet a few months ago. We miss him so much, the house is not the same. The kids all have been trying to get us to bring in a new pup. I was worried one of them would sneak one in on Christmas day. But they listened for once and didn't.
So this is the start of a new year. I wish all of you much happiness. I will be back tomorrow to end the week. If any of you are on pintrest or instagram, you can find me there (rossiaz). I've become hooked on both thanks to my daughter. Funny how I couldn't understand how anyone could be on their phone for more than a phone call. Coach and I both were laughing at the fact that we no sooner sat down, and both our phones came out in case we missed something on the ride over to a resturant. Wow what happened to us?

So glad to be back!

After seven weeks of being in a shoulder sling and now three weeks of rehab. I think I'm ready to start writing the blog again. Having a shoulder replaced was a good thing, but it takes a lot out of you. I spent a lot of time by myself, and not being able to do anything for yourself makes life not a lot of fun. Coach was wonderful. He did everything he could to help around the house. And still kept working with the football team and summer school. We have some exciting news! He was made Head Coach at the end of this past school year. I'm sure there are a  few of you out there who know what that means. Endless texting, phone calls, paperwork, planning and all that comes with being a Head Coach. And now I'm the head coaches wife which comes with it's own responsibilities.
We've already gone through football camp. That was held up at Camp Tontozona which is where  ASU has in the past and is going to hold their camp again this year. The coaches and players love it up there. It's cool and not 105 like in the valley and from what we have heard the players really enjoyed themselves this year.
Yesterday was their Golf Tournament, which was held at Apache Creek Golf course in Apache Junction. The rain held out until everyone was off the course, feed and on their way home. It was overcast and very humid, but everyone seemed to have had a great time and the football program raised some money for things they'll need during this upcoming year.  The tournament was run by Coach Reid and his wife Becky, things went off without a hitch.
So starting tomorrow  Coach is back to work. Getting ready for his students and of course running plays and before you know it the whistle will blow and the crowds will be on their feet. Hoping for a good season.
I'm back to work also. That has been a bit rough for me. Due to the fact that I can't lift anything yet, I'm not able to do my job. Which makes me a bit angry at times. So between rehab a bit of pain and  just trying to not take things out on anyone. I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing with Me. I really can't wait to get started with the crafting and sewing again, which reminds me; the sewing machine has to get a tune up ASAP. I thought, ha ha that I would be able to do a few projects while I was home. When your right arm is in a sling, it makes it hard to turn a page of a book much less any kind of craft project I thought I could do. Not a happy camper :(  The arm is working now, so I've been doing some cross stitching. My grandsons birthdays are in September and it's going to be Cars themed. So I have some ideas for decorations. Marion who's going to be two, loves the Disney movie Cars. We gave him a place setting with the Cars theme. He was so excited he didn't know what to do. And Mase our little guy ( he'll be one ) got the Toy Story set. He was very happy too. Though he's still not sure why. But if big brothers happy so is he. They are  bundles of joy for us. They are just so darn cute! We can't wait to take them to Disney Land, so they can both ride the rides at the Cars Theme Park there.
Oh we did get to go a trip to Minnesota. Coaches parents and sister Amy and brother-in-law Peter live there. It's the first time that I was able to see more of the Twin Cities. We had a wonderful time! The weather was great while we were there. I posted a few pictures on Instagram (rossiaz). I was still in my sling, but we made the best of it. My in laws are great! We ate so much, I can't believe that I didn't pile on the weight. We made a list of all the places we had heard of or seen on Diners Drives and Dives. We even went to the  Cupcake Wars Champion winner's store. Wow he can make some great cupcakes. It was a little rainy that day, so it was perfect for a cupcake and coffee.
Well we need to get something together for dinner. I'll continue with the list of places we ate at while on vacation. So hope the rest of your Sunday evening is a great one. I'll stop back by tommorrow.

Question of the day

April 23- How would your parents describe you? (You can call and ask them)
April 24- Is life fair? Yes? No? Sometimes? Not today?
April 25- Who do you need to call?

Monday Monday

Hi! Yes I know it's Tuesday. I have to say sometimes Mondays can be no fun. I don't think I got as much done at the real job as I would have liked to. But there's always today to look forward to.
Coach was not real talkative after his two days on the field. Of course it was in the low 100's both days. He said that there were a few coaches who were not prepared (sunscreen). So you can guess how red they were when they got home. He loves being on that field. There's nothing like watching your husband talk about all the moves that go on, on that field. I hear all the terms and get to see some of those moves demonstrated in our family room. It's quite a sight.
So the other news I got yesterday, was that surgery will be in less than a month. So that is a good thing. I just know what I'll be going through, and I'm not looking forward to that. Now I'm in get things done mode. And coach will be "stop doing that". I'll just get a few things done, cause at some point I won't care what my house looks like. Sleep is the only thing I'll want and of course no pain. And I hate the stuff they give you for that. I'm thinking I need to do a few fun things to. I'm hooked on that book I Brake For Yard Sales ( by Lara Spencer). My daughter said we need to go to a few and some thrift shops and see what we can find. I have to get a guestroom setup. And I'm hoping to do the yard sale thing in it. Coach wants to change the dressers in our room and put the old ones in the guestroom. So that will be one thing off the list. I can't wait to get started.
As much as I would like to keep talking here. I have to get ready for work. Get my lunch ready, snacks you know. We're eating  much better as of late and I don't want to hit that vending machine at work. It's amazing  how when you write down everything you eat it makes you think before you open your mouth to that fork. And it's fun to see the results.
Talk to you soon.

Overcast Wednesday

So today I slept in, until 6:30 am. Wow! You know your getting older when 6:30 am is sleeping in. Oh well, you get started on things for the day earlier. So we've, coach and I have been watching what we eat. Trying to eat healthy. More veggies and fruits. Less on the plate. It's showing on scale to! And more important with the clothes! Very exciting.
Today I went walking . Got to get more active now. It's getting warmer and San Diego is only five hours away. One of our favriote places to spend time together. That and Palm Springs. We always seem to chill out when we're there. I can't wait till we make our next trip there. New car I hear road trip! New shape new bathing suit. Ugh! I hate that trip to the dressing room. But maybe it'll be bit more fun this year.
I've been looking at the Hungry Girl Cookbook and Weight Watchers. I love the iced coffee from Hungry Girl. Almost better than Starbucks. Though I'll always stop by from time to time to get something skinny from them. The girls at my local Starbucks are all so sweet. It's always nice to have someone remember you. It reminds me of back home (Michigan) were you knew everyone around you. The butcher shop that my mom went to. I remember wanting to go with my mom so I could get one of those lollypop on the string. And when I took my kids there, they always asked how my mom was doing and my kids got to pick out the lollypop on the string to. Funny the things you remember about your childhood. Though I love living in Arizona. You don't get the same hometown feeling. Maybe thats why I love San Diego so much. Even there people remember us when we go back. And we walk a lot.

So I went through emails today and bloglovin. It's fun to see what everyone is doing or making. Gives me more ideas. I was looking at The Lettered Cottage. They have a magazine thats really cute. Love all the colors that were used in the rooms. There was a Q&A with Robert Novagratz. One of his quotes was "Life is short and failing is overrated. Try again!" I love that. Cause it's ture. If you don't keep trying, you'll never know what you could have done. Right? I just have to keep reminding myself. I can't wait till their show comes back to HGTV. They are just so darn good! It makes me want another house to redo. Coach is always asking me what I want to do? Thats what I want to do. I'd really like to find things for peoples homes. Make them beautiful and comfortable. I remember in school I used a neighbor as my client. She loved what I did on my board and said she'd use me to decorate her house when I graduated. As a teen that makes you feel great. I've yet to decorate anothers home. One day. One day.

So while I was looking at The Lettered Cottage, there were homes from Tybee Island. Which made me thing of the places I'd like Coach and I to go. So I think I'll do my bucket list of those places.

1. Italy                                               10. Denver
3. Back to NYC                                 11. Back to Santa Fe
4. Paris                                               12. Ireland
5. Tybee Island                                  13. Spain
6. London                                           14. Australia
7. Marthas Vineyards                         15. Wyoming
8. Germany                                         16. Back to Canada
9. New Orleans
When I was groing up my dad loved to travel. So almost every summer we took long family vacations. Most were to places he and my mom had been to. Like NYC, were I got to see the Twin Towers just as they were being completed. And were my parents went to the Worlds Fair. Do they even do those anymore?
I'm sure there will be more added to the list. But thats a start. So if any of you have been to any or all of these places. Give me the list of best places to go and eat. We love trying different things.
So have a good rest of the evening. I'll try to stop by tommorrow.
