So glad to be back!

After seven weeks of being in a shoulder sling and now three weeks of rehab. I think I'm ready to start writing the blog again. Having a shoulder replaced was a good thing, but it takes a lot out of you. I spent a lot of time by myself, and not being able to do anything for yourself makes life not a lot of fun. Coach was wonderful. He did everything he could to help around the house. And still kept working with the football team and summer school. We have some exciting news! He was made Head Coach at the end of this past school year. I'm sure there are a  few of you out there who know what that means. Endless texting, phone calls, paperwork, planning and all that comes with being a Head Coach. And now I'm the head coaches wife which comes with it's own responsibilities.
We've already gone through football camp. That was held up at Camp Tontozona which is where  ASU has in the past and is going to hold their camp again this year. The coaches and players love it up there. It's cool and not 105 like in the valley and from what we have heard the players really enjoyed themselves this year.
Yesterday was their Golf Tournament, which was held at Apache Creek Golf course in Apache Junction. The rain held out until everyone was off the course, feed and on their way home. It was overcast and very humid, but everyone seemed to have had a great time and the football program raised some money for things they'll need during this upcoming year.  The tournament was run by Coach Reid and his wife Becky, things went off without a hitch.
So starting tomorrow  Coach is back to work. Getting ready for his students and of course running plays and before you know it the whistle will blow and the crowds will be on their feet. Hoping for a good season.
I'm back to work also. That has been a bit rough for me. Due to the fact that I can't lift anything yet, I'm not able to do my job. Which makes me a bit angry at times. So between rehab a bit of pain and  just trying to not take things out on anyone. I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing with Me. I really can't wait to get started with the crafting and sewing again, which reminds me; the sewing machine has to get a tune up ASAP. I thought, ha ha that I would be able to do a few projects while I was home. When your right arm is in a sling, it makes it hard to turn a page of a book much less any kind of craft project I thought I could do. Not a happy camper :(  The arm is working now, so I've been doing some cross stitching. My grandsons birthdays are in September and it's going to be Cars themed. So I have some ideas for decorations. Marion who's going to be two, loves the Disney movie Cars. We gave him a place setting with the Cars theme. He was so excited he didn't know what to do. And Mase our little guy ( he'll be one ) got the Toy Story set. He was very happy too. Though he's still not sure why. But if big brothers happy so is he. They are  bundles of joy for us. They are just so darn cute! We can't wait to take them to Disney Land, so they can both ride the rides at the Cars Theme Park there.
Oh we did get to go a trip to Minnesota. Coaches parents and sister Amy and brother-in-law Peter live there. It's the first time that I was able to see more of the Twin Cities. We had a wonderful time! The weather was great while we were there. I posted a few pictures on Instagram (rossiaz). I was still in my sling, but we made the best of it. My in laws are great! We ate so much, I can't believe that I didn't pile on the weight. We made a list of all the places we had heard of or seen on Diners Drives and Dives. We even went to the  Cupcake Wars Champion winner's store. Wow he can make some great cupcakes. It was a little rainy that day, so it was perfect for a cupcake and coffee.
Well we need to get something together for dinner. I'll continue with the list of places we ate at while on vacation. So hope the rest of your Sunday evening is a great one. I'll stop back by tommorrow.

Question of the day

April 23- How would your parents describe you? (You can call and ask them)
April 24- Is life fair? Yes? No? Sometimes? Not today?
April 25- Who do you need to call?

Monday Monday

Hi! Yes I know it's Tuesday. I have to say sometimes Mondays can be no fun. I don't think I got as much done at the real job as I would have liked to. But there's always today to look forward to.
Coach was not real talkative after his two days on the field. Of course it was in the low 100's both days. He said that there were a few coaches who were not prepared (sunscreen). So you can guess how red they were when they got home. He loves being on that field. There's nothing like watching your husband talk about all the moves that go on, on that field. I hear all the terms and get to see some of those moves demonstrated in our family room. It's quite a sight.
So the other news I got yesterday, was that surgery will be in less than a month. So that is a good thing. I just know what I'll be going through, and I'm not looking forward to that. Now I'm in get things done mode. And coach will be "stop doing that". I'll just get a few things done, cause at some point I won't care what my house looks like. Sleep is the only thing I'll want and of course no pain. And I hate the stuff they give you for that. I'm thinking I need to do a few fun things to. I'm hooked on that book I Brake For Yard Sales ( by Lara Spencer). My daughter said we need to go to a few and some thrift shops and see what we can find. I have to get a guestroom setup. And I'm hoping to do the yard sale thing in it. Coach wants to change the dressers in our room and put the old ones in the guestroom. So that will be one thing off the list. I can't wait to get started.
As much as I would like to keep talking here. I have to get ready for work. Get my lunch ready, snacks you know. We're eating  much better as of late and I don't want to hit that vending machine at work. It's amazing  how when you write down everything you eat it makes you think before you open your mouth to that fork. And it's fun to see the results.
Talk to you soon.

Overcast Wednesday

So today I slept in, until 6:30 am. Wow! You know your getting older when 6:30 am is sleeping in. Oh well, you get started on things for the day earlier. So we've, coach and I have been watching what we eat. Trying to eat healthy. More veggies and fruits. Less on the plate. It's showing on scale to! And more important with the clothes! Very exciting.
Today I went walking . Got to get more active now. It's getting warmer and San Diego is only five hours away. One of our favriote places to spend time together. That and Palm Springs. We always seem to chill out when we're there. I can't wait till we make our next trip there. New car I hear road trip! New shape new bathing suit. Ugh! I hate that trip to the dressing room. But maybe it'll be bit more fun this year.
I've been looking at the Hungry Girl Cookbook and Weight Watchers. I love the iced coffee from Hungry Girl. Almost better than Starbucks. Though I'll always stop by from time to time to get something skinny from them. The girls at my local Starbucks are all so sweet. It's always nice to have someone remember you. It reminds me of back home (Michigan) were you knew everyone around you. The butcher shop that my mom went to. I remember wanting to go with my mom so I could get one of those lollypop on the string. And when I took my kids there, they always asked how my mom was doing and my kids got to pick out the lollypop on the string to. Funny the things you remember about your childhood. Though I love living in Arizona. You don't get the same hometown feeling. Maybe thats why I love San Diego so much. Even there people remember us when we go back. And we walk a lot.

So I went through emails today and bloglovin. It's fun to see what everyone is doing or making. Gives me more ideas. I was looking at The Lettered Cottage. They have a magazine thats really cute. Love all the colors that were used in the rooms. There was a Q&A with Robert Novagratz. One of his quotes was "Life is short and failing is overrated. Try again!" I love that. Cause it's ture. If you don't keep trying, you'll never know what you could have done. Right? I just have to keep reminding myself. I can't wait till their show comes back to HGTV. They are just so darn good! It makes me want another house to redo. Coach is always asking me what I want to do? Thats what I want to do. I'd really like to find things for peoples homes. Make them beautiful and comfortable. I remember in school I used a neighbor as my client. She loved what I did on my board and said she'd use me to decorate her house when I graduated. As a teen that makes you feel great. I've yet to decorate anothers home. One day. One day.

So while I was looking at The Lettered Cottage, there were homes from Tybee Island. Which made me thing of the places I'd like Coach and I to go. So I think I'll do my bucket list of those places.

1. Italy                                               10. Denver
3. Back to NYC                                 11. Back to Santa Fe
4. Paris                                               12. Ireland
5. Tybee Island                                  13. Spain
6. London                                           14. Australia
7. Marthas Vineyards                         15. Wyoming
8. Germany                                         16. Back to Canada
9. New Orleans
When I was groing up my dad loved to travel. So almost every summer we took long family vacations. Most were to places he and my mom had been to. Like NYC, were I got to see the Twin Towers just as they were being completed. And were my parents went to the Worlds Fair. Do they even do those anymore?
I'm sure there will be more added to the list. But thats a start. So if any of you have been to any or all of these places. Give me the list of best places to go and eat. We love trying different things.
So have a good rest of the evening. I'll try to stop by tommorrow.

Question of the day

If you could go back in time and change something, what would it be?

Back again

It's been a while since I've sat here in front of the computer. I've got Martha on and I don't have to be to work till one. Life as you know can sometimes get in the way. Not that I don't love my life but you can't always do the things you want due to time and such. Like coaches truck not wanting to work anymore. Inventory at work, two employees out. New baby boy for one which is sooo exciting for her, and jury duty for another. Now another employee going to a different store. And to put the cherry on the top of it all. I now have to have what looks like a full right shoulder replacement in the very near future. We're waiting for the call giving us the date that this will take place. Going to get blood work and all done this coming Friday. I've been through this once before. Part of my left shoulder was done almost four years ago. Which went great. Having the best surgeon makes things go so much better. I'm not looking forward to this, it makes me want to cry a little. My age makes this  a shock for my surgeon as I'll be fifty four next month. But this is what life has handed me now. So I'm hoping if I have to be home for an extended amout of time. Maybe I'll be able to sit here and let you know how things are going. Which could be very interesting as I'm righthanded. I'm guessing that it's going to take a long time to type a line or I'll get very fast one handed. I'm hoping  for the latter.
So I hope your all having a wonderful spring. It's been crazy weather around here. Not as bad as other parts of the country, whom are in our paryers. But going from the high eightes to the mid sixties is a little crazy. I'm sorry but sixty is cold around here. This morning they said we'll be at one hundred by Saturday.
I'm guessing coach is going to be loving that. He has a track meet coming up and a football thing going on up in Scottsdale all weekend. I'm guessing the black shorts long sleeve gray tee shirt and wide brim bucket hat will be the attire for the weekend. Oh and sun screen of course. You who are married to coaches know what I'm talking about. The sad thing is I'm sitting here in a gray football tee shirt. I've even found myself picking up gray clothing!
Well since one of our trucks isn't working. We spent part of this past Sunday at the Kia Dealership.  We are now the proud owners of a Kia Soul. She's gray in color. LOL, I have a gray car! Now I know I'm officially a coaches wife. I'm the lucky one who gets to drive her. As the Dodge Ram I drove was five on the floor. Not good for the shoulder. So coach now drives it. It's amazing what cars do today. Coach called me yesterday, and I was getting into the car answering the phone. The problem was that they loaded up the car with all my numbers. So you can't use the phone at the same time. Boy do I have a lot to learn. Fifty three isn't old, but if you didn't grow up using the computer from birth. It gets very confusing at times.
It's getting late and I have to get things together for work. Have a great Wednesday.

Staycation part two

On Monday the 12th we made our way to a Angles vs Dodgers spring training game. We had a great time. The weather was perfect. I got a bit pink from the sun. There was a little boy next to coach who was here with his parents from southern California. He went home with a pop fly ball. I'm sure it was show and tell when he got back to school the next day. It's been years since I've been to a game. We really need to do this more often. I think baseball is a great sport to get to talk to the people you are with.
On Tuesday we went to a resturant called the Barrio Cafe. It's on Thomas and 16th street in Phoenix. The food was out of this world good! I had the fish tacos with a salad. The salad was spring greens with diced tomatoes, cranberries and cheese. Sooooooo good. Coach had cheese enchilads with onxy mole sauce. We will be back and I've told everyone I know that they have to go there to eat. When we were done I took a few pictures of the art work on the block walls of the homes around the cafe. There was a couple from California who stopped to take pictures also.
We than made our way to downtown Phoenix. We went to see the Van Goah Alive at the Arizona Science Center. It takes about a half hour to see the whole thing. We stayed an hour. There is script on one screen, and so many others that show his artwork. You almost have to read first than sit back and watch the artwork to see everything. I highly recommend it. Coach now wants to read his bio and watch the documentary about him. Yes he is more than a football coach. We walked around Hertiage Square. I've lived in the  Phoenix area for over ten years and that was the first time I've been there. This was a week of firsts for us.
On Wednesday the last day of our staycation, coach had another surprise for me. A couple of weeks ago we were watching CBS Sunday Morning, and on that show they had a gentalman who owns a typewritter repair shop. I had told coach that I was thinking about getting an old typewritter. It was a very interesting half hour. I never knew there was so much to learn about them. If you ever need to talk to someone about your typewritter or want to buy one. Go see Bill Wahl(30 South Macdonald Mesa,AZ 85210), he will give you all the information you need and help you pick the right one for you. Coach said we'll be back. We like to go to small shop owners when ever possible. I have my eye on a couple he had in his store. My birthday is just a few months away. Who knows?
We also shopped a antique store where I picked up some milk glass. I think I'm going to start collecting milk glass. I saw an article in the new Matthew Mead magazine. I've always loved the look of it and it goes good with my white dishes. It'll just be fun to use the pieces for different things other than food or drink. I haven't taken any picture's yet. But I will and post them.
As we were getting ready to head back to the truck. I spotted a store called Mystic Paper (123 W Main St. Mesa,  Az). They had lots of unique papers and trims, ephemera. I didn't stay to long to wonder around. Coach was sweet enough to sit on a bench while I ran in to see what they had. I already told my daughter we were going back together on our next Wednesday off. The owner was very sweet. We talked about our blogs and she was kind enough to give me some helpful hints and websites to go to. If you want to see her shop blog go to www.mysticpaper.com/www.mysticpaper.blogspot.com.
All in all we had a wonderful five days of doing what we wanted or nothing at all. I can't wait till our next vacation. But this time it'll be in White Bear, MN. I have to start finding the shops I want to visit. If any of you know of some good places to go to please let me know. And of course we can't for get. Coach and I have been married nine years now, this past Thursday. Like other couple we had our ups and downs. But I can say we are very happy to be together. I can't wait to see what the next nine years will be like. He's the best! It's Sunday night and time to get ready for Monday morning! Can't wait to be able to get back here. Hope you all have a great week.

Question of the day

Sorry I didn't get the questions of the day to you. So we'll start today and go backwards.
March 14;If you could acquire a talent(without any extra effort), what would it be?
March 13; What is your favorite thing to do on a Sunday morning?
March12; write down a new fact you  recently learned.
March 11; What sound effect are you most like today?
March 10; A chore you ignored today___________.

The staycation.

So much to my dismay, I have to go back to work tomorrow. I have to say, this was a great staycation, as my husband keeps calling it.
Dinner was wonderful on Saturday with my in-laws. I had the baked ziti, which I had never had before. Amazing! My in-laws loved Pestos. Said they will eat there again when they come back next fall. They will be going back to White Bear, MN at the end of April. We'll miss them loads. But will get to see them this summer, as we have plans to visit them and my sister-in-law and her husband, before Coach has to go to football camp and practice starts.
Earlier in the day we went to the movies. We went to see "This Means War". Very funny even coach liked it. Funny though, I think we were the only two people laughing out loud.
On Sunday we went on our Hot Air Balloon ride. The whole ride out there I kept thinking that I should be scared. But I wasn't, it took a while for us to get going. It's been kinda windy around here, so we had to wait for a while. I think it was about eight when we watched the balloons being filled with hot air. Hopped (not gracefully) into the basket. And still no fear. I didn't even realize that we were going up. It's so smooth and quite. No bouncing or jaring movement at all. There were seven of us in our balloon. One being the piliot. He was a hoot! Very nice man. There was a young couple (med students) here from Nebraska. They were celebrating her birthday and have only been married for three months. While the husbands were helping roll up the balloon, she asked if we had any tips on marriage. Myself and the other lady with us asked "does he make you laugh?"  She said yes and I said there you go. The other couple was from Canada, here for the week, their first visit to Arizona. We gave them directions to the Mesa Swap Mart. Coach didn't understand why they would want to go to a swapmart of all places. I said that I would go to flea market's, thrift shops if I had the chance. I'm always looking for things I could use to craft with or fabric to make something with. He shook his head understanding then.
So after that I said we should go to the Coffee Shop to eat. The owner was on Cupcake Wars and won! After coffee and a egg and potatoe burrito. We were both ready for a shower and clean clothes. Boy! do you get dusty landing in a balloon in an hay field. I was disapointed that she didn't have any woopie pies on Sunday. She makes the best strawberry woopie pies you've ever had! Stop by if you get the chance.
So I'm sure Jet (our boxer) didn't understand why all weekend we kept coming and going. But he figured out that because of it he ws getting extra treats. You know he was taking advantage of that.
Showered and clean clothes on, we made our way to Scottsdale. They had their art festival going on this past weekend. Sooo many pretty thing's. We picked up a few business card's up of artist's we like. When the time's right, i'm sure we'll be making some phone calls to aquire some new art for the house. I'm going to end here for the night. Need to get ready for work. I'll see you tomorrow.

Vacation!

It was the longest seven hours ever. But work ended at 4pm today for me. And I now have the next five days off. Don't have to set the alarm!  Well maybe one night i'll need to. We will be going on a hot air balloon ride early sunday morning, 6:15 on the nose we will be drifting up to get a birds eye view of the valley. I can't wait. Have any of you done this before? I'll take lot's of pictures. One thing checked off the bucket list. Funny, I really hadn't started that list till now. I'm going to have to add more thing's to it.
We are also planning to go to a spring training game. Haven't done that in a while. Coach alway's gives me a hard time, because the last game I went to. Mark Grace tossed a ball to me. Lucky for me I turned just in time to catch it. You should of heard all the little ladys around me (the senior's love the spring training season). They were so excited. Don't think that will happen again, but it's still going to be fun to hear the bat's crack again. Thank's to my dad and the Tiger games, I enjoy waching( mostly talking and people watching) a good game.
We're having dinner with my in-laws tomorrow. I think a Pesto's. I LOVE that place. Great lemon blueberry martini's. There food is soooooo good. The owner's are the best, very lovely people. So I say if your ever in Chandler and find yourself on the corner of Ray Rd. and Dobson. Stop in and say hi and get the cheese platter and some wine, and sit back and enjoy.
Not sure what the rest of the week will hold for us. I think we'll just wake up and see what we feel like doing with the day. I'd like to try some new restaurants and do some junk hunting. Maybe I'll find the next plate and glass that need's to be made into a cupcake plate. Plus I need to find some thing's for the guest room's. I hope you all have a great weekend. I'm sure going to make a great effort at doing the same.

Question of the day

March 8th; What's the last song you listened to?
March 9th; A person you wanted to ignore today?

A bit windy around here.

Hello all! The last two day's have been very windy. Up to fifty miles an hour at times. And to our dismay we've had our first brush fire. It's been so dry around here, I can't remember the last time we had rain. Don't want to think what this summer is going to be like.
I've been a bit under the weather for the past week. I think this 60 to 80 degree weather we've been having hasn't helped a lot of us. Seem's every other person I know has been having issues.
My son's wedding went off with out a hitch. Bride and groom looked very happy. They both have been busy with work. And when we last texted (cause that's what you do now) they also were not feeling well. Hope to see them and my grandson's soon.
Coach is busy with track at the moment. The good thing about track is he's home early. We actually eat dinner together. His trip to Vegas went well. But I think he missed me. He came home and said that he didn't think he'd be going back next year. I guess he liked listening to one of the coaches from UNLV. Said he was very interesting. So he's on spring break next week. I took a few day's off. I can't wait! It's also our 9th wedding anniversary next Thursday. It really feel's like we just got married. I can remember not to many years before that I figured I'd never marry again. And than there he was in those wrangler's. My roomate said I had to meet him. She was right. Thank's to her and my determination, we make each other very happy. And he never let's me forget that one of the reason's we're together is that he makes me laugh. There are day's I wish I never let him know that (not really). So he has it in his head that for our anniversary we need to go on a hotair ballon ride. I've never been in one before. Kinda of thought of it, one of those bucket list thing's. I'll let you know what happens.
Now it's time for the question of the day. Ready? It's not a good idea to  experiment with_____________.  Fill in the blank. I haven't come up with an answer yet. There's so many thing's you could write in that blank.
I hope you all had a good day. I'll be back tomorrow. Have a great Thursday!

Question of the day

My daughter gave me a Q & A book last year for my birthday. So everyday I write the answer to the question. I thought I'd start asking you the question. It makes you think a little. So here's todays question: Who's your nemesis?
So I'll be back tommorrow. See you than with the ?

My first post

I've been thinking about starting a blog for a while now. I would like to share what I love to do when I'm not doing my day job. My kids live here in Arizona, but my parent's and little sister live back in Michigan. I hope this will be a window into my life for those close to me. And maybe along the way I'll get to meet and make some new friend's out there in blog land.
At the moment I'm working on my son's wedding. He's my youngest and the first to marry. Mason and Brittany are doing a small wedding this coming Wednesday. So we will all be in Mesa for a small ceramony with the family here in Az. And a small get together afterwards. We're all very happy for them and can't wait for the big day. I've been working on the flower's for the bride. My daughter just saw them today. And she love's the way they came out. Which makes me feel very good, because she is a very talented young women. And I'm sure those of you who craft or paint or arrange flower's,  know that feeling of not being sure of your finished product.
It's been a bit cool today. So I hope the weather is much warmer the middle of this week. Aubrey and I went to the Antique Mall today. We both had in mind what we wanted, which in most cases we are very good at keeping to what we want and not let our eyes wonder where they should not. I'm working on some cake stand's, so I picked up a few plates and glasses to see what I can come up with. Aubrey on the other hand ended up with an end table, Tv tray and a few odd's and end's. We had a great time and as my husband would say " that's all that matter's". And he's right that is all that matter's after a rough week at the day job.
Coach was busy all weekend at a Combine. It's this thing that football player all gather at. Do some running, throwing. Football thing's. I've never been to one, but I hear it's important event. The coaches get to see what the player's can do. Coach came home a little red today. I guess he thought since it was overcast and cool he wouldn't get a lot of sun. Wrong. So yes football season has started for us. Next week it's a coaches convention for three days. Last week it was three days of listening  to other coaches giving their tips on coaching. And I'm sure there's something more coming up. I just can't think of it at the moment.
So it's Sunday night, and I need to spend some time with the coach. He's the lucky one tommorrow. No school President's Day and all. I on the other hand I have to be to work early. So I hope everyone has a great week. Our's will be busy. I will post pictures as soon as I can of the up coming wedding. And hopefully you'll let me know what you thing of the flower's.
